PokerStars greatly benefit from trouble at Full Tilt Poker
Full Tilt Poker has lost its gambling permit on the 30th of June. From that date on, players have started looking for alternatives. So far, it seems PokerStars is the most popular alternative, taking over about 66% of the former Full Tilt players.
Last month had a disastrous ending for Full Tilt poker. While players were still playing tournaments and cash games, the Alderney Gambling Commission suddenly revoked the license of the parent company of the poker room. The servers were turned off and the poker room went down. Players panicked and are yet waiting for their money.
One man's meat is another man's poison. PokerStars benefitted most from the turmoil at Full Tilt. About 2600 of players that transferred made an account at PokerStars, about 66% of all players that transferred.
Party Poker is also benefitting from this situation and the Poker site welcomed over 500 new members. These figures come from eGaming Review and were measured during the first 36 hours after Full Tilt’s license was revoked.
Besides the shift to other poker sites, the figures show that 59% of all Full Tilt players did not register any new account. This is mainly due to the lack of trust in online poker and the fact that players can’t access their money.
